Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. In Ontario, you can book directly with a physiotherapist without a referral.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your health card, insurance information, any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRIs), and wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated.
How long is a typical appointment?
Initial assessments are typically 45–60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are usually 30–45 minutes.
Does physiotherapy hurt?
Some techniques may cause mild discomfort, but physiotherapy should not be painful. Always communicate with your physiotherapist about your comfort level.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition, its severity, and your goals. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic estimate after your initial assessment.
Do you direct bill insurance?
Yes. We direct bill most major insurance providers. Contact us to confirm your specific provider.
What is the difference between physiotherapy and massage therapy?
Physiotherapy focuses on diagnosing and treating movement dysfunction and injuries through a combination of hands-on treatment and exercise. Massage therapy focuses on soft tissue manipulation for relaxation, pain relief, and recovery. Both services are offered at The Physio Studio and can complement each other.
