Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is much more than treating pain. It's about understanding why your body is struggling, what's driving the dysfunction, and what it will take to restore full, confident movement. At The Physio Studio in Whitby, our registered physiotherapists bring nearly 25 years of orthopedic experience to every assessment — giving you a clear diagnosis, a realistic plan, and the hands-on care to get there.
What to expect from physiotherapy at The Physio Studio
Your first appointment is a comprehensive assessment. We take the time to understand your history, your goals, and the factors contributing to your condition. We look at how you move, where the restrictions are, and what's driving the pain or dysfunction.
From there, your physiotherapist will explain what they found — in plain language — and work with you to build a treatment plan that fits your life. Treatment may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, soft tissue techniques, electrotherapy, postural coaching, and education.
We also believe that good physiotherapy means giving you the knowledge and tools to manage your own health independently — not creating dependency on appointments.
Conditions treated with physiotherapy
Our physiotherapists treat back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, hip and knee conditions, sports injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, concussion, chronic pain, balance and gait disorders, and much more. If you're unsure whether physiotherapy is right for your condition, contact us — we're happy to advise.
FAQs
What happens at my first physiotherapy appointment?
Your first appointment is a full assessment — typically 45–60 minutes. Your physiotherapist will review your history, assess your movement, identify the root cause of your issue, and begin outlining a treatment plan. Treatment often begins in the first session.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your condition. After your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will provide a realistic estimate. Acute injuries may resolve in 4–6 sessions; chronic conditions often require longer programs.
Does physiotherapy hurt?
Some treatment techniques can cause temporary discomfort — particularly manual therapy on sensitive structures — but this should always be within a tolerable range. Your physiotherapist will always work within your comfort level and explain what they're doing and why.
